Hey! I'm Kaleesa Archer, and I am the Director of the Southeastern Indiana Spring Classic, by the time this years show rolls around I will have just celebrated my 24th birthday. I completed my tenth year in the 4-H program as well as the beef project in July of 2007, by October I was elected on to the Switzerland County 4-H Fair Board. It was November of 2007 when the idea of creating an open show hit me like a ton of bricks... I wasn't ready to give up showing cattle just because I was no longer a member of 4-H, and I knew many other people my age that felt the same. Letters were sent, sponsorship's received, and a ton of support from family, friends, fellow board members, and people I had met only because of the show circuit. The first show was held on April 26, 2008, and was considered a "Junior Show" which allowed anyone under the age of 21 to participate. This year I made the decision to drop the 21 and under rule and open it up to anyone that wants to show. After 5 years of watching the numbers grow a little here and there I am excited to be working on the 6th Annual Southeastern Indiana Spring Classic! I have met so many amazing people along the way, new faces to the cattle industry, past judges, the first year members that are excited, yet nervous to participate in their first show! However, along with the new faces that have come around, we have lost some along the way as well, please take the time to check-out the "In Memory Of" tab to learn a little more about the people who helped inspire me to make this show what it is. I have to thank my family - my dad, Mark, who can be found running the scales show morning, and lining up cattle to enter the arena as show time nears, thank you for passing on your love of raising and showing beef cattle to me; my mom, Tonya, who on show day is running the concessions, thank you for all your support from the time I was in the show ring to now standing back and directing my own show; my big sister and her family, Kodi, Dan, Lainie & Landen, on show day you'll most likely find Lainie & Landen running around in the barn, Kodi can be found helping me write checks and distribute class payouts and taking pictures, and Dan, well who knows where you might see him, being the "head-chef" grilling the burgers, the master mechanic fixing something that broke or stopped working correctly just moments before the show, or you may find him doing what all of us "Cattle Folks" do best, standing around talkin' the talk! I also have to thank my step-parents, Vickie and Mike, thanks for being there and attending all the shows you have because of me, I know it isn't something you love as much as I do, but knowing that I have your support, means the world to me! Another very important person I have to thank is my cousin and friend, Jill, you will see her smiling face bright and early on show day as she is my "right-hand-man", while her and Kodi like to sit back and make up inside jokes that 99% of the time involve me, against my will, I'd be lost without both of them! There are so many other people to thank, the volunteers who randomly show up and jump in to help wherever they can - I appreciate it more than you know! As I said before I am so excited to be preparing for the 6th show and I am looking forward to seeing everyone there on April 27th!!!
